General Anaesthesia and Brain Development (1 CPD point)

A consultant anaesthetist from the WCH will be discussing the reasoning behind the most recent FDA recommendations for children under 3 years of age receiving treatment under general anaesthetic. What do we need to know and what advice should we be giving parents of children being referred for or receiving dental treatment under general anaesthetic?

A Night of Clinical Cases (1 CPD point)
When: Tuesday 30th April, 6.30-9pm
Where: Melt CBD, 38 Waymouth St, Adelaide SA 5000
Join us for a night of clinical cases. This will be interesting evening listening to clinical cases presented by our colleagues and friends who are involved in the management of children. You can expect a range of cases, interesting research and clinical experience from friends of various disciplines around Adelaide. You will gain some insight into cases seen within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and within private paediatric practise. Please join us for a collegial and supportive evening listening to cases our colleagues have encountered.
If you have a case you might like to present please email sa.secretary@anzspd.org.au by the Sunday 21st of April with a title. Presentations should be 7 minutes in length and the first 10 will be accepted. Presenters will enjoy a complimentary dinner and will be presented with a book voucher to thank them for their time.

#AdolescentDentistry (6 CPD points)
When: Full day Seminar Saturday 20th July, 8am-5.30pm
Where: National Wine Centre of Australia, Hackney Rd & Botanic Rd, Adelaide

A full day seminar combined with the Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association of South Australia (ADOHTA SA). Presenters will focus on the management of the adolescent population. Topics include: caries in children and adolescence, behaviour management and dealing with an anxious teen, eating disorders, bruxism, orthodontics and periodontal disease. The day will conclude with a canapés and wine tasting at the wine centre from 5.30pm-7.00pm

Environmentally Friendly Dentistry: Moving towards a Sustainable Future / AGM
When: Tuesday 8th Octoober
Where: Lenzerheide Restaurant, 146 Belair Road, Hawthorn SA 5062
The year will conclude with a presentation focused on environmentally friendly and sustainable dentistry. This is a hot topic receiving a lot of attention in the both the medical and dental field on an international stage.
We are honoured to have Dr Robert Panjkov presenting to us. Dr Panjkov’s Melbourne practise won the Premier’s Sustainability Award for 2018. Dr Panjkov he has put many novel ideas into place in his private practise, successfully reduce wasting, recycling products and ensuring his practise of dentistry is more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for members will occur prior to the dinner meeting from 6-7pm although anyone is welcome to attend. The dinner meeting will take place at 7pm.
